Joan Smith
Joan E. Gallo (nee Smith) of Cherry Hill passed away peacefully on Monday April 15, 2024 at home with her loving family by her side. She was 68 years old. Born on March 5, 1956 in Philadelphia, daughter of the late James and Eleanor Smith. She began her career in 1977 as a flight attendant working for both TWA and American Airlines. Joan and her husband opened and operated Haddon Pharmacy in Collingswood. Joan will be remembered as a loving, kind and generous sister, mother and friend. She thoroughly loved to travel and spend time at her home in Wildwood enjoying the beach.
Wife of 45 years to Philip Gallo, loving mother of Alex and Julia Gallo, dear devoted sister of Ellen (Bill) Blumenstein, Diane (Colin) Marshall and Bettyann (Jay) McGill, cherished aunt of Colin (Maria), Jim (Samantha), Casey (Melissa), Tom, Rebecca (Lauren) and Jay, Joan will also be missed by many great nieces and great nephews, cousins and good friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation with her family on Tuesday April 23rd, 11 AM to 1 PM at the MARK C. TILGHMAN FUNERAL HOME, 38 N. Forklanding Road, Maple Shade. Her funeral service will follow 1 PM at the funeral home. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital @stjude.org
